Day 5 was wrapped up in some nice shaped 3 foot bowls. I went down in a man on man quarter  final to Amaury Laverhne and he went on and showed us why he is the new World Champion. Before this event Amaury had to win Sintra to seal the deal, so thats what he did it, winning the contest and therefore being the new World Champion. And well deserved, he surfed good in every contest this year and no one else could come close.

The waves turned on for the drop knee final and i was lucky enough to keep my roll on and was able to take it out. My first ever dk win on the world stage. Check out how serious this head looks.

   seriously…i can´t understand the australians…best surfers in the world..they made a major contribut to the sport creating what now i call style and technic….but in the comps…..why?

   is it about the waves? cause you are used to surf big and perfect reefbreaks
   is it about mental focus? cause you cant deal with the pressure
   is it the comp? shity prizes
   is it the jugdes?they give the same score to a crossed leged foward and to a open leged foward (for instance)

   dont understand why guys like you, novy ,king,stone,etc, dont take world tittles….

   but for sure,,,you re one of the best boogies in the world

   Ei, Pedro, Kingy has two world titles, and I noticed you didn’t mention Player, with other two. About the answers to all your questions, I’d say you’re almost on the money: mental focus is hard in mushy beachbreaks when you are used to perfect reefs or poweful beachbreaks. And the board choices aren’t that good (PE in european summer beach breaks?…)

   Next year, if IBA’s tour becomes half of what they’re saying…the rankings will be a bit different.
